Due to an internal secondment, they are seeking an experienced Accountant to join the team on a 3 month contract commencing at the beginning of August, with the potential for a short extension.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Acting Finance Manager, you'll step into a busy hands on accounting role at a critical time of year. You'll support month end, year end and audit activities while working closely with a small, collaborative finance team to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance.
This role is best suited to an Accountant who enjoys doing the work rather than simply reviewing it. You'll be trusted to take ownership, work independently and make an immediate contribution from day one.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare month end journals, accruals and balance sheet reconciliations
- Produce monthly management accounts and reporting for budget holders
- Review statutory financial accounts and assist with the external audit process
- Support year end reporting and compliance activities
- Assist with general financial accounting and ad hoc finance projects
- CA or CPA qualified, or recently qualified
- Around 5 years' experience in a financial accounting role
- Strong understanding of month end accounting, journals and reconciliations
- Experience using MYOB, with Calxa exposure highly regarded
- Confident working autonomously in a hands on environment
- Strong communication skills with a proactive and direct approach
- Current Working With Children Check, or the ability to obtain one
- 3 month contract commencing early August, with the possibility of a short extension
