Our client is a well-established international business with local operations in Australia, supplying quality products to the agricultural industry. They are seeking an ambitious Accountant to join their Melbourne-based finance team. Reporting to the Finance Manager, this hands-on role will manage day-to-day accounting activities across several business units, ensuring accuracy in reporting, compliance, and month-end processes.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions, ensuring transactions are processed accurately and on time
- Complete daily bank reconciliations, payments, and cash management
- Manage month-end close, including journal entries, accruals, and preparation of management reports
- Support annual and half-year audits, statutory lodgements, and other compliance requirements
- Maintain and reconcile the fixed asset register monthly
- Manage intercompany reconciliations and ensure completion within set deadlines
- Coordinate overseas supplier payments and credit card expense processing
- Manage stock reconciliations, invoicing, and credit control reporting
- Contribute to process improvements and maintain high standards of accuracy and accountability
- Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or working towards advantageous)
- Minimum five years’ experience in accounting, ideally across accounts payable, receivable, and general ledger functions
- Strong Excel skills, including pivot tables and lookups
- Proficiency with ERP and accounting software
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively across teams
- Self-motivated, organised, and comfortable working autonomously in a fast-paced environment
