ABOUT OUR CLIENT AND THE ROLE
Our client is a well established organisation in the transport sector with a strong operational footprint across multiple business units. They are looking for a Finance Business Partner to join their Finance team and work closely with General Managers across a number of departments. The role focuses on delivering quality financial reporting, analysis and insights that guide operational decisions, improve performance and support long term planning. This is a hands on position where you will collaborate with senior stakeholders, contribute to budgeting and forecasting, and help drive financial outcomes that align with operational goals.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Deliver monthly reporting packs for assigned business units, including detailed profit and loss statements and sales and margin reporting.
• Present monthly financial results to operations leaders and translate data into practical insights.
• Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations and provide variance commentary to the Chief Financial Officer.
• Lead the annual budgeting process and quarterly forecasting for your designated departments.
• Provide in depth financial analysis to support business cases, new initiatives and operational decision making.
• Monitor contractor profitability and business unit expenditure across states and categories.
• Support the Commercial Manager in assessing finance costs and analysing margins on financing activities.
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with General Managers and operational teams.
• Partner with the business on major projects, workforce cost reviews and long term business planning.
• Develop business intelligence reporting that supports operational decision making.
• Assist with ad hoc financial tasks as required and contribute to a positive, safe and inclusive organisational culture.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor’s degree in Business or Finance with a major in Accounting.
• CA or CPA qualification.
• Proven experience in commercial finance, budgeting, forecasting and business performance analysis.
• Strong financial systems capability and excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
• Ability to communicate clearly with non financial stakeholders and influence decision making.
• Experience working in a business partnering capacity, ideally three to five years.
• Strong judgement, relationship building skills and the ability to interpret and operationalise strategy.
