Our client is a large and established organisation operating within a complex, high-volume environment seeking an experienced Finance Business Partner to support a key commercial channel.
Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you will work closely with sales, marketing and category stakeholders to provide accurate analysis and practical commercial advice. The role has ownership across customer and product profitability, commercial investment, forecasting, performance reporting and decision support.
This is a hands-on business partnering position for someone who can get underneath the numbers, challenge assumptions and explain where the business can improve performance. You will need to balance commercial thinking with strong financial control and attention to detail.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Partner with sales, marketing and category stakeholders across a key commercial channel.
- Analyse sales and profitability by customer, channel and product.
- Provide commercial advice across pricing, promotions, customer investment and product decisions.
- Manage and analyse commercial spend, including accruals, claims, reconciliations and material movements.
- Support the financial assessment of new products and other commercial initiatives.
- Own key elements of the budget and forecasting process across gross margin, marketing investment and operating expenditure.
- Investigate monthly results and prepare clear commentary on performance, risks and opportunities.
- Review month-end journals and balance sheet reconciliations across relevant commercial accounts.
- Deliver accurate daily, weekly and monthly performance reporting.
- Develop financial models and complete ad hoc analysis to support decision-making.
- Identify opportunities to improve reporting, processes, controls and commercial outcomes.
- Take ownership of projects and issues through to resolution.
- Degree qualified in accounting, commerce, business or a related discipline.
- CA or CPA qualification.
- Strong finance business partnering experience within FMCG, consumer goods or another high-volume environment.
- Experience supporting major retail customers or a similarly complex commercial channel will be highly regarded.
- Experience managing commercial investment, customer rebates, promotional spend or similar arrangements.
- Strong understanding of customer, channel, product, price and volume mix.
- Experience working with large data sets and tracing information across financial systems.
- Advanced Excel and financial modelling capability.
- Evidence of using analysis to challenge decisions and improve commercial performance.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the confidence to constructively challenge non-finance leaders.
- Inquisitive, proactive and comfortable working through detailed issues independently.
- Able to manage a high volume of work without accuracy slipping.
