Our client is a market leader in large-scale agriculture operations and is currently seeking a Financial Accountant on a 12 month contract with intention to go permanent to join their finance team. ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the Senior Financial Accountant, this role will involve partnering closely with operational teams at multiple sites nationally. You'll contribute to core financial reporting, month-end processes, tax compliance, and budget preparation, while also supporting initiatives aimed at improving systems and driving performance across the division.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with financial reporting, statutory compliance, and end-of-month processes including reconciliations, accruals, and journal entries
- Support inventory accounting, including goods receipts, stock take postings, and investigation of discrepancies
- Contribute to forecast uploads and support preparation of the P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, and working capital reporting
- Assist in preparation of tax reporting (e.g. income tax, FBT) in collaboration with the corporate finance team
- Participate in the annual budgeting process and development of medium to long-term plans
- Provide financial support across operational sites to improve processes, efficiency, and productivity
- Partner with internal stakeholders to drive business performance and ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal policies
- Assist with audit preparations and other ad hoc tasks as required
- Tertiary qualification in accounting or finance
- Qualified or progressing toward CA or CPA
- Prior experience in a similar financial accounting or assistant accountant role
- Strong Excel skills with proficiency in Word and PowerPoint; experience with SAP or large ERP systems is highly regarded
- Knowledge of OneStream or BI tools is advantageous
- Strong attention to detail, organisational skills, and ability to manage competing priorities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
