ABOUT OUR CLIENT & THE ROLE
Our client is a premium global retail brand with a strong presence in the Australian market. As part of their ongoing growth, they are seeking an experienced Financial Accountant to join their Melbourne-based finance team on a 4 month contract.
This role plays a key part in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records and daily operations, supporting compliance and providing financial insights across the business. Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Financial Accountant will contribute to the broader success of the local finance function while liaising closely with the international head office.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain accurate and timely financial records in accordance with accounting standards
- Manage end-to-end accounts payable and receivable functions, including supplier payments and customer invoicing
- Reconcile accounts and investigate discrepancies
- Assist in the preparation of tax documentation and compliance
- Support payroll processing and provide audit assistance
- Contribute to financial reporting and participate in process improvement projects
- Liaise with internal departments and international finance teams
- Support the Finance Manager with ad hoc tasks as required
- Participate in training and meetings with global finance counterparts
- 3–5 years’ experience in a financial accounting role, ideally within the retail or luxury sector
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA qualification (or working towards) highly regarded
- Strong knowledge of bookkeeping, AP/AR, tax preparation, and audit support
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and financial systems; payroll experience desirable
- Detail-oriented with excellent time management and organisational skills
- Clear written and verbal communication skills with a proactive, team-focused approach
