ABOUT OUR CLIENT

Our client is an established, privately owned Australian business with a diverse portfolio of operations across national and international markets. Operating within a complex, multi-entity environment, the organisation has built a strong market presence and is entering an exciting phase of growth through organic expansion and strategic acquisitions.

With a focus on strengthening financial capability, modernising systems and improving commercial visibility, the business offers an opportunity for an experienced finance professional to play a key role in shaping its future.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the CFO, the Financial Controller will take ownership of the day-to-day finance function, leading financial control, treasury, reporting and a geographically distributed team while driving meaningful improvements across systems, processes and financial performance.

This is far more than a traditional financial reporting role. You'll be instrumental in building a more efficient, scalable finance function, improving commercial insights and supporting the integration of acquired businesses.

With ERP modernisation on the horizon and a strong appetite for automation and AI, this role will suit a commercially minded, hands-on finance leader who enjoys combining technical expertise with business improvement and transformation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead financial control, month-end and year-end reporting, reconciliations and consolidation across multiple entities.
  • Manage treasury operations, cash-flow forecasting, liquidity and foreign-exchange exposures, including approved hedging activities.
  • Lead, mentor and develop local and offshore finance teams, driving accountability and operational efficiency.
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, management reporting and financial analysis to support commercial decision-making.
  • Partner with operational leaders to improve profitability, pricing, project costing, inventory management and margin visibility.
  • Drive improvements across finance processes, internal controls, reporting and data integrity.
  • Play a key role in ERP readiness, systems integration and the adoption of automation and AI-enabled finance tools.
  • Support the financial integration of acquired businesses, aligning reporting, treasury and finance processes.
  • Strengthen audit readiness, financial governance and compliance with relevant accounting standards.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
  • CA/CPA qualified with substantial experience in financial control, ideally within a multi-entity or internationally operating business.
  • Proven experience in a Financial Controller, Senior Finance Manager or similar senior finance position.
  • Strong technical accounting expertise, with hands-on experience in financial reporting, consolidation and internal controls.
  • Demonstrated treasury capability, including cash management, foreign exchange and cash-flow forecasting.
  • Experience leading and developing finance teams, including offshore or geographically dispersed resources.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to partner with operational leaders and translate financial information into actionable insights.
  • Experience improving finance systems, processes and reporting, with exposure to ERP implementation or transformation initiatives
  • Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with complex financial data, automation and modern analytical tools.
  • Exposure to manufacturing, inventory, distribution or cost accounting, including margin and profitability analysis.
  • A proactive, adaptable and solutions-focused approach, with the ability to balance hands-on delivery with strategic improvement.
