ABOUT OUR CLIENT

Our client is a well regarded education sector organisation supporting financial accountability and reporting across a large network of schools throughout Victoria. They are seeking an experienced finance professional to join their Funding and System Reporting team during a critical reporting period.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a hands on contract role focused on financial statement validation, reconciliations, reporting support and large-scale data review. The position would suit someone from an audit, business services or financial accounting background who enjoys working with data, identifying inconsistencies and managing reporting deadlines in a structured environment.

The role will initially be office based during onboarding and training, before moving to a hybrid arrangement.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Review and validate annual financial statement submissions from schools
  • Reconcile financial and census data to identify discrepancies and reporting issues
  • Investigate reporting anomalies and follow up directly with stakeholders where required
  • Support the preparation and review of financial questionnaires and accountability reporting
  • Perform high volume data validation and financial checks across large datasets
  • Assist with data cleaning, formatting and reporting processes using Excel
  • Liaise with schools regarding missing information, miscoding or incomplete submissions
  • Support the broader Funding and System Reporting team during peak reporting periods
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
  • Previous experience within audit, business services, financial accounting or reporting
  • Strong reconciliation and financial statement review capability
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills including formulas, data manipulation and large dataset handling
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify inconsistencies in financial data
  • Comfortable working in a high volume, deadline driven environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with Power Query, Power BI or data preparation tools would be advantageous
  • A valid Working With Children Check or ability to obtain one
