ABOUT OUR CLIENT

Our client is a well-established Australian business with a significant national footprint and a large, diverse workforce operating across an extensive branch network. Due to continued growth, an opportunity has arisen for an experienced People & Culture Business Partner to join their expanding People & Culture team.

This is a broad, hands-on HR role offering exposure across employee relations, performance management, recruitment, onboarding, HR projects, workforce reporting and generalist HR advisory.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the People & Culture Manager, you will partner closely with regional and branch managers to provide practical, commercially focused HR advice across the full employee lifecycle. Working within a lean P&C team, you will have genuine ownership of your portfolio and manage matters from initial advice through to documentation and resolution.

A key focus will be employee relations and performance management, including supporting managers through difficult conversations, misconduct, grievances and investigations. You will also play an active role in recruitment and onboarding, HR reporting, Award interpretation, HRIS administration and process improvement.

This role will suit an emerging HR Business Partner who enjoys working in a fast-paced, operational environment and wants the opportunity to influence managers while remaining hands-on with day-to-day HR.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Partner with regional and branch managers across a multi-site workforce
  • Provide advice across employee relations, performance management and workplace matters
  • Manage misconduct, grievances, investigations and performance processes
  • Coach managers through difficult conversations and people decisions
  • Provide advice on Modern Awards, NES, Fair Work and employment legislation
  • Support end-to-end recruitment, onboarding, probation and offboarding
  • Prepare employment contracts, letters and employee correspondence
  • Support remuneration reviews and Award compliance
  • Produce HR reporting across turnover, absenteeism, engagement and workforce metrics
  • Support HRIS administration, data integrity and reporting
  • Identify and implement improvements across recruitment, onboarding and P&C processes
  • Contribute to employee engagement, learning and broader HR projects
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE 
  • Previous experience as an HR Business Partner, People & Culture Business Partner or experienced HR Advisor
  • Experience supporting a blue-collar, operational, retail, logistics, distribution or similarly frontline workforce
  • Strong practical employee relations and performance management experience
  • Sound knowledge of Modern Awards, National Employment Standards and Fair Work legislation
  • Confidence partnering with and influencing operational managers
  • The ability to communicate effectively with both frontline employees and senior stakeholders
  • Strong written skills and confidence preparing HR documentation and correspondence
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience working with HRIS/HR information systems
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach with strong attention to detail
  • The confidence to challenge constructively and provide clear, practical advice
  • A tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Business or a related discipline will be highly regarded.
