Our client is a leading property developer known for delivering high-quality residential, commercial, and mixed-use projects across Australia. With a strong pipeline of current and future developments, they are seeking an experienced Project Accountant to join their dynamic finance team.
This is a key role in a business that is rapidly growing and evolving. The successful candidate will work across a number of active projects, providing essential financial oversight, insight, and reporting.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Due to a period of sustained growth, they are on the hunt for a capable finance professional to manage project-based accounting responsibilities from start to finish. This role partners closely with Development and Project Analyst teams to ensure financial accuracy, efficiency, and compliance at every stage of the project lifecycle.
You’ll report to the Project Accounting Manager and work under the guidance of the Financial Controller as part of a commercially focused, high-output team based in the Melbourne CBD.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage monthly general ledger reconciliations for multiple development projects
- Prepare general journals, cost reallocations, and revenue adjustments
- Deliver timely and accurate reporting for Joint Venture and internal stakeholders
- Assist in annual budget preparation and quarterly forecasting
- Prepare capital call and loan drawdown documentation
- Collaborate with external consultants to ensure compliance with tax and audit obligations
- Monitor debtor and creditor balances and maintain project ledger integrity
- Support settlement processes and track project financials through to completion
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives within the finance function
Our client is seeking someone with:
- A tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related field
- CPA or CA qualification (or currently undertaking)
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar accounting role
- Experience in property development or financial services (highly regarded)
- High attention to detail and a solutions-focused approach
- Strong Excel skills; familiarity with ERP systems (Business Central desirable)
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities
