ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting into the Senior Business Systems & Innovation Analyst, the Senior Analytics Engineer will play a key role in developing and maturing the organisation’s data and analytics environment.
This is primarily an Analytics Engineering role, sitting between traditional data engineering and business intelligence. You’ll work across data transformation, modelling and the semantic layer, turning data from core business systems into trusted, well-structured datasets that can be readily used for analytics and reporting.
The environment is centred around Microsoft Fabric, SQL and Power BI, so we’re looking for someone with strong analytics engineering capability who ideally also brings practical data engineering experience across areas such as ingestion, ELT, integration and modern cloud data platforms.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and maintain scalable data models across the Microsoft Fabric environment
- Build reliable transformation and ELT processes from core enterprise systems
- Design dimensional models and reusable datasets for analytics and reporting
- Develop and maintain semantic models supporting Power BI and self-service analytics
- Partner with business stakeholders to translate reporting and analytical requirements into robust data solutions
- Improve data quality, documentation, governance and development standards
- Support CI/CD and the ongoing evolution of the organisation’s modern data platform
- Strong experience in an Analytics Engineer, BI Engineer or similar data-focused role
- Advanced SQL skills and strong experience developing dimensional data models
- Experience working with Microsoft Fabric, Azure or comparable modern cloud data platforms
- Strong understanding of semantic modelling and Power BI
- Practical experience with ELT/ETL, data transformation and integration
- Broader Data Engineering experience across pipelines, Lakehouse/Warehouse architecture or data ingestion will be highly regarded
- Strong stakeholder communication skills with the ability to connect technical data solutions to business requirements
