Our client is a large not-for-profit organisation delivering disability, child, youth and family services across Victoria. They are currently undergoing a significant finance transformation and integration phase and are seeking an experienced Senior Financial Accountant on fixed term 4 month contract to support this critical phase.
ABOUT THE ROLE
This is a hands-on Senior Financial Accountant position supporting the finance leadership team through a demanding period leading into year end. The environment is complex, fast paced and continuing to evolve structurally and operationally, so they need someone who can step in quickly, work independently and bring strong technical financial accounting capability.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with year end financial reporting and audit preparation
- Support the preparation of consolidated financial statements across two entities
- Manage and improve balance sheet reconciliations and working papers
- Provide technical accounting support and guidance across the finance team
- Assist with fixed asset accounting, general ledger integrity and audit queries
- Support finance process improvements during ongoing systems and structural integration
- Work closely with finance leadership across both operating divisions
- Oversee and support transactional finance staff where required
- CA or CPA qualified with strong technical financial accounting capability
- Prior experience in audit or complex year end environments highly regarded
- Ability to operate independently and quickly understand existing processes and systems
- Strong reconciliation skills with attention to detail across complex ledgers
- Confident working within changing and sometimes ambiguous environments
- Mature, collaborative approach with strong stakeholder management skills
- Experience within large not-for-profit, healthcare, disability or government-funded environments advantageous but not essential
