ABOUT THE ROLE

The State Manager (QLD) is a senior leadership role responsible for driving strategic growth, operational excellence, and commercial performance across a diverse portfolio of social enterprise operations. Overseeing multiple sites including transfer stations, reuse shops, and emerging business ventures, you will lead high-performing teams, build strong commercial partnerships, and ensure the delivery of sustainable financial and social outcomes.

This role blends strategy, operations, partnership development, and cultural leadership. It is ideal for a commercially savvy leader passionate about social impact, customer excellence, and building thriving, values-aligned teams.
Regular travel across Queensland sites and occasional interstate travel will be required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead the development and execution of growth strategies across QLD social enterprise operations.
  • Identify and deliver new business opportunities, tenders, and commercial partnerships.
  • Build and develop high-performing teams that embody a values-driven culture.
  • Manage key stakeholder relationships including councils, government agencies, and industry partners.
  • Oversee financial performance, budgets, asset management, and contractual compliance.
  • Ensure operational excellence across multiple sites, with strong service delivery standards.
  • Lead the establishment, transition, and optimisation of new sites and projects.
  • Champion safety, compliance, and continuous improvement across all operations.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
  • Senior leadership experience in a commercial, operational, or social enterprise environment.
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience balancing financial outcomes and social impact.
  • Demonstrated success in business development, negotiation, and partnership management.
  • Proven capability in financial, contract, and asset management.
  • Experience leading and empowering diverse teams to deliver results.
  • Strong project management expertise across complex, multi-site operations.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and influencing skills.
  • Commitment to inclusion, diversity, and supporting people experiencing disadvantage.
