Our client is a privately owned Australian property development group with a reputation for delivering high quality residential, commercial, industrial and mixed use developments.
As the business expands, they are bringing tax capability in house and are looking to appoint a technically strong Tax Manager to become the internal subject matter expert across the group.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the Head of Finance, this newly created position will take ownership of the group's tax compliance, planning and governance function.
You'll work across nearly 200 entities, including trusts, partnerships and companies, giving you exposure to complex tax matters, corporate restructures and strategic planning initiatives.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage the annual tax compliance process across approximately 200 entities.
- Oversee company, trust and partnership tax returns.
- Manage BAS, FBT and other indirect tax obligations.
- Provide practical tax advice to support commercial and investment decisions.
- Review technical advice and position papers.
- Identify opportunities to reduce external advisory spend by bringing work in house.
- Assist with tax structuring for acquisitions, developments and new investments.
- Lead the rationalisation and wind up of dormant entities across the group.
- Partner with the Head of Finance, CIO and wider leadership team on complex tax matters.
- Drive continual improvements across tax governance, processes and controls.
- CA or CPA qualified.
- Approximately 5 to 10 years' taxation experience.
- Background in Big 4, mid-tier, business services, corporate tax or specialist tax advisory.
- Strong technical knowledge of Australian corporate tax, trusts and partnership structures.
- Experience managing tax compliance and reviewing complex technical tax advice.
- Confident communicator who can explain technical matters to non-tax stakeholders.
- Commercial mindset with the ability to work autonomously.
- Experience with NetSuite or Business Central is advantageous but not essential.
- Property industry experience is beneficial but not required.
